What should I put in the "Client message" box?
When you apply to a brief, in addition to indicating the number of days and your day rate in your quote, there's a box where you must write a message for the client.
We know it's intimidating, so here are some tips, examples, suggestions, to avoid the fear of the blank box.
Why is this mandatory?
At the end of 2021, we decided to make this box mandatory for two reasons:
- clients react VERY positively to these messages : it gives them a glimpse of who the person we are presenting is,Some readersCan I speak directly with the client?
Regarding the project, yes, of course! You have a chat tab in each brief to contact the client directly. We actually encourage direct communication early on in the process. We don't handle project management, so it's good to communicate with the client in the context of the project.
However, if the client contacts you directly for a new brief, you should let us know. Some readersHow does matching work / what is the acracy process?
Here is the matching process:
1/ We receive a brief
from a client for one or more profiles. We commit to respond within 48 hours: the countdown begins.
2/ Severine or Elia will identify 3 to 4 perfect profiles
per brief, and if it's you, send you the brief via the platform.
3/ You can accept or refuse the brief.
At this stage: double-check your daily rate, as well as the number of days proposed (you can make a new proposal to the client if the number of days doesn't seem appropriate). IFew readersWhy can't I accept a mission?
Your profile is probably incomplete.
Make sure that your administrative information is accurate (correct SIRET number, documents uploaded in PDF on a single page) AND that you have signed the acracy contract (that's often where it gets blocked - we sent it to you via Yousign, if you can't find it, we can resend it to you).
You can only accept briefs once your profile is complete.Few readersWhat should I do if the client contacts me directly to offer me a new mission?
It happens!
Usually it's to save time, or because they've simply forgotten that they need to go through us.
The easiest way is to tell them to contact us, so that we can take their brief and run it through the platform.
And if the request is really about going direct, then we'll refer you to this article to know what to do!
Thank you for your trust!Few readersI am asked to perform a test. What is it about? Will I be paid for it? If I am asked to do a test for free, what should I do?
It happens that the client requests a test to check the compatibility with the subject and skills of a freelancer. Usually, these are half-day tests on a practical case close to the client's brief.
Of course, you will be paid for it.
If the client proposes that you take a test for free, please inform us.Few readersMy profile has been rejected several times for different projects, what can I do?
Good question!
There are two things that are appreciated by clients:
An up-to-date website/book/portfolio/LinkedIn
A personalized comment for the client when accepting the brief. You can indicate references to projects related to the client's subject.
Sometimes, a daily rate that is too low or too high compared to the market can make a client doubt.
Also, sometimes, with people who have just joined the community, there may be a bit of a slow start. But as we get to know the freelancers beFew readersA client is proposing an interview with me, how does it work?
Congratulations!
If the client has requested an interview with you, it's a good sign: typically, clients meet with 1 to 2 profiles before making a decision.
The interview is used, depending on the brief, to:
-get to know you better
provide more information about the brief/mission
ask any remaining questions
🗓 What is the process?
Note: Unless otherwise specified, interviews are conducted via video call!

It is entirely possible for you to work again with the same client. We have several clients who have loved their collaboration with freelancers and wish to work with them again.
The missions that follow the initial connection are still handled through our platform. If the client contacts you directly, please notify us.Few readersDo you take last minute projects?
It can happen.
Like everyone else, it's not our preference, but sometimes clients have urgent projects. If urgent projects are a no-go for you, be sure to let us know and we won't offer them to you.
On average, we have about a week between the brief being sent and the start of a project.Few readersIf I refuse missions, will I be penalized?
Of course not !
It's even very important to feel free to refuse briefs. If you say no, it's because you don't have time or don't think you're the right fit for the brief.
Refusing briefs allows us:
1/ to improve our matching process
2/ to not wait for your response to send the brief to the client
3/ to offer the mission to other freelancers.
And above all, each matching is made by real people, the algorithm will not disadvantage you if you refuse briefs (in fact, you can indicate a reason fFew readers
